Crystal Palace revealed on Tuesday lunchtime that they will face Watford in their final pre-season friendly, and a number of Eagles fans have been sharing their thoughts on social media about the fixture against the Hornets.

Palace already have friendlies against Portsmouth, Walsall, Stevenage, Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic in July, and they will end their preparations against the newly-promoted Hertfordshire club.

Xisco Munoz’s side will be direct rivals for Patrick Vieira’s Palace next season following their immediate return to the top flight from the Championship last term.

The Eagles confirmed that the match will take place on Saturday 7 August at 3pm, a week before their trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on the opening weekend of the new campaign. Fans will be able to attend, with the club set to release details soon.

Palace posted the confirmation of the Watford friendly on Twitter. However, these Eagles supporters weren’t exactly thrilled at the news, with one labelling it as ‘awful’ – the two clubs have had a fractious relationship at times in recent years.

This is an encouraging update from Romano, with a couple of additions so important at Anfield this summer, in order to bring a freshness to proceedings.

With Gini Wijnaldum joining Paris Saint-Germain, a new top-quality midfielder is needed – someone who possesses the Dutchman’s energy levels and consistency.

Not only that, but another attacking player wouldn’t go amiss, bringing quality in both wide and central areas, in order to keep Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino on their toes.

The former pair will of course depart for AFCON in January 2022, so an additional speedster on the wing is almost a necessity.

وكان مانشستر سيتي قد أعلن أمس توصله إلى اتفاق مع بوروسيا دوتموند فيما يتعلق بالحصول على خدمات هالاند، خلال موسم الانتقالات الصيفي المقبل.

وسُئل فرناندينيو عن رأيه في تلك الصفقة، وذلك على هامش التصريحات قبل مباراة اليوم المرتقبة بين فريقي مانشستر سيتي وولفرهامبتون.

But an array of boundaries from Atapattu and Sangakkara ensured such a rapid scoring rate that Sri Lanka’s first 50 came off 35 balls. Yohannan’s first over went for 14 runs as he was hit for six into the Jessop Stand and backward of point for four by Sangakkara, who proceeded to his fifty off 32 balls with another fierce boundary.Harbhajan made the vital breakthrough in his first over as Sangakkara, trying to hit him over extra cover, was stumped by Dravid. Southampton have been linked with a move for Manchester City midfielder Yangel Herrera recently, and the Venezuelan could be a superb addition to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad this summer.

What’s the word?

According to The Telegraph, Southampton are expressing an interest in the 23-year-old, who has spent the last two seasons on loan with Granada in La Liga.

Crystal Palace and West Ham are also said to be interested in the midfielder, who could cost as much as £20m, as City look to raise funds in order to afford big-money moves this summer, with top targets Jack Grealish and Harry Kane both likely to cost north of £80m.

Would Herrera be a good signing for Southampton?

During his time at Granada, Herrera has made 82 appearances, contributing 10 goals and five assists, and was a key part of their run in the Europa League last season.

During the 2020/21 campaign, the Venezuela international would make 32 appearances in La Liga, contributing three goals and one assist to his name, averaging a solid 6.79 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

He was also very impressive for Diego Martinez’s side in the Europa League, managing two goals and one assist in just 10 appearances, averaging a 7.00 rating from WhoScored, which suggests that he would add some quality and experience to Hasenhuttl’s midfield.

Considering the Saints struggled last season in the absence of Oriol Romeu, adding more depth in midfield should be something of a priority for the Austrian manager this summer.

Herrera has won a lot of plaudits in the past, winning the praise of Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira during his time at New York City, with the Frenchman saying:

“He’s a tactically intelligent midfielder who is strong in the tackle and reads the game well. Yangel also has good passing range and spatial awareness, which is crucial for a player in his position.”

Therefore, he could be an excellent addition to Hasenhuttl’s squad both now and for the long-term future, so Martin Semmens should definitely look to bring him to St Mary’s.

Michael ainda se recupera do acidente de carro que lhe causou um traumatismo cranioencefálico, mas nesta terça-feira foi visto correndo no gramado do CT Pedro Antonio pela primeira vez desde que saiu do coma.

Após o acidente, o jogador de 23 anos está recuperando peso e sua musculatura, que foram afetados durante os 30 dias em que esteve em estado de coma, entre janeiro e fevereiro. Sua evolução está sendo boa. Até agora, Michael recuperou metade do peso que perdeu mas ainda não há previsão para quando poderá voltar a atuar em partidas oficiais.

Revelado em Xerém, o atacante esteve envolvido em diversas polêmicas. A pior delas foi o resultado positivo para o teste antidoping que o atleta realizou após vitória do Fluminense por 2 a 0 sob o Resende, pela Taça Rio de 2013, em que Michael marcou um dos gols. Como punição, o jogador ficou fora dos gramados durante oito meses. Dois anos depois foi novamente julgado e, pela nova punição, teria que ficar sem atuar até agosto do mesmo ano.

Ainda em 2015, o atleta deixou de treinar por pelo menos duas vezes sem dar explicações aos membros do clube. Em setembro do mesmo ano, Michael apareceu no CT após uma semana sem treinar, e pediu rescisão de contrato com o clube, que duraria até 2017. Porém, no final do ano o jogador voltou atrás na decisão e foi emprestado ao Estoril (POR) por seis meses. Em sua volta, foi novamente emprestado, dessa vez para o América-MG, em 2016, onde marcou três gols no ano.

De volta ao Fluminense, Michael ainda deve ser utilizado pelo técnico Abel Braga? Otavio Oliveira, do ‘Papo com Boleiro’ acredita que ainda não é hora de Michael voltar a ocupar um posto de nível mais alto depois de tantas polêmicas.

– Sem dúvida alguma o Michael atleta seria uma peça importante para compor o elenco do Fluminense para a temporada. Porém, o seu comportamento fora de campo, vem demonstrando que ele (Michael), tornou-se um jogador comum e problemático e que a qualquer momento pode colocar todo o trabalho do técnico Abel em risco. Tendo em vista que a maior virtude do atual treinador do Fluminense é preservar pela disciplina. Sendo assim, eu o emprestaria para uma equipe menor como se fosse a última chance dele mostrar que ainda merece estar reintegrado ao grupo tricolor.

Southampton striker Danny Ings will find the chance to play up front with Harry Kane at Tottenham attractive, claims Evening Standard journalist Jack Rosser.

With Kane continuing to be linked with a move to Manchester City, it looked like Ings could be brought in as a replacement.

However, according to The Telegraph, the 29-year-old has been earmarked as someone who can come in and play alongside the England captain.

The same outlet also claims that Ings is Tottenham’s top target this summer, so you would expect the north London club to do everything they can to sign the Southampton man. And Rosser is convinced he would relish the opportunity to partner his compatriot in attack.

“It’d be attractive for any striker,” Rosser said in a chat with TT when discussing the topic of Ings potentially playing next to Kane at Tottenham.

“A lot of strikers have turned down Spurs because they don’t want to be stuck behind Harry Kane, which is completely understandable because he’s someone who wants to play every minute.”

While Kane is obviously an elite goalscorer, he also proved to be a very good playmaker last season. No player provided more Premier League assists than the 27-year-old’s 14, so Ings must be licking his lips at the prospect of playing up front with his countryman.
