Aston Villa appear to have won the race for Fleetwood Town defender and reported Celtic target Josh Feeney, according to Birmingham Live.

The Lowdown: Celtic links

Feeney, England’s Under-16 captain, has been a man in demand in recent months.

Celtic, along with Villa, Leeds United Leicester City and Wolves were all credited with an interest in the centre-back last month.

Feeney, who stands at 6 foot 3, is yet to make a senior appearance for Fleetwood but appears to be on the move this summer.

The Latest: Villa visit

According to Birmingham Live, Villa is Feeney’s preferred destination despite being poised to move to Manchester United.

He visited Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training facility on Thursday which left Feeney’s representatives impressed.

It now seems as if a move to the Midlands is on the cards ahead of an Old Trafford switch.

The Verdict: Could have been a Hjelde replacement?

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Hoops teenager Leo Hjelde in recent days, so Feeney could well have been an ideal replacement for the Norwegian.

Hjelde, who has 12 months remaining on his Parkhead deal, was tipped as ‘the next Virgil van Dijk’ by former Ross County manager John Hughes last season.

It seems as if Celtic could lose him, so adding Feeney may have been perfect – the amount of interest the Englishman has attracted suggests he too is quite the prospect.

It doesn’t look as if a move to Scotland will materialise, though, and Aston Villa may well have got themselves a future star in Feeney.

Contratado no fim do ano passado para comandar o Tricordiano, Edinho era a terceira geração dos “Nascimentos” na cidade, já que além de Pelé ter nascido no local, o avô Dondinho defendeu o Atlético de Três Corações nos anos 1930.

Além do Tricordiano, o técnico já comandou Mogi Mirim e Água Santa, mas nos três clubes teve passagem curta. Foram dois jogos no time mineiro, quatro no Mogi e somente novem no Água.

The Verdict: Harrison the main bonus

Retaining Harrison’s services for the future is a huge positive for Leeds, with the winger such an important player during Bielsa’s time at the club.

The 24-year-old has scored 18 goals and registered 20 assists in 128 appearances for the Whites and he was his side’s joint-second top scorer in the league last season, netting eight times – Patrick Bamford would cut a very isolated figure on the Whites’ goalscoring charts without Harrison.

The Citizens starlet can continue to thrive out wide in Yorkshire, with Raphinha hopefully staying put and wreaking havoc on the opposite flank, and the capture of some young talents for the academy sides is also very promising.

O colombiano vem atuando pela ponta direita, onde se sente mais à vontade, mas ainda não teve uma boa atuação, apesar de ter deixado sua marca.

Na defesa, o zagueiro Donatti volta ao time. Ele ainda não conseguiu deixar uma boa impressão no Flamengo e nem sequer vem ficando no banco de reservas no Campeonato Carioca. Isso por causa do limite de apenas sete jogadores entre os suplentes na competição. Geralmente, o defensor argentino é até relacionado para os jogos do Estadual, mas não fica entre as opções para o decorrer dos duelos.

Zé Ricardo também relacionou alguns jovens para esta partida, inclusive garotos da equipe sub-20. Entre eles estão dois atacantes,Loran e Lucas Silva. A tendência é que eles tenham oportunidades durante o jogo.

RENÊ ESTREIA PELO FLAMENGO

Contratado junto ao Sport para suprir a ausência de Jorge, o lateral-esquerdo Renê vai estrear oficialmente pelo Flamengo nesta quinta-feira. O jogador de 24 anos vinha se destacando pelo clube pernambucano nas últimas temporadas, principalmente pela forte vocação ofensiva.

Renê assinou vínculo de quatro anos com o Rubro-Negro e vai disputar posição com o peruano Miguel Trauco, que tem um bom início de temporada até aqui, com quatro assistências e um gol.

O jovem lateral-esquerdo Moraes ficará no banco contra o Sport. O garoto tem apenas 19 anos e disputou a Copinha neste ano. Ele era reserva naquele time e substituiu Michael, que se lesionou durante o torneio.

Moraes vem sendo observado pelo técnico Zé Ricardo em alguns treinos no Ninho do Urubu. Ele é visto como um jogador de muito potencial.

After an intense winter in Rod Marsh’s newly formed England Academy down under, Chris Tremlett has returned fitter, stronger and quicker for the 2002 season.It will be a test of the 20-year-old progress, having made a significant impression in Hampshire’s promotion to County Championship Division One with 20 wickets in his seven first-class matches.With a season in the Academy under his belt, Tremlett believes this is going to be a big season, not only for Hampshire, but also for him personally. “I learnt a lot during the winter and feel a lot fitter. And I believe my bowling has come on as well.”My action has improved. I am now bowling in a straighter line, closer to the stumps and with a bit more pace. I am hoping that with me probably being one of the quicker bowlers, I can command and maintain my place in the side.”With the new signings in the batting department, young Tremlett considers there will be plenty of competition, but is hopeful there will be plenty of opportunities for him. “I obviously want to get into the first team, play well, keep my place and get as many wickets as I can.”It is a big season for me. It will be a lot harder in Division One but we can push for the top spot. The lads are certainly up for it, I have noticed that since I have been back.It is not only in the first-class game but also in the limited-overs matches, where he performed well and with plaudits from television experts and many a supporter, where Tremlett is looking to excel.”I did well in the one-day games as well, so I hope to further myself there too.”His Academy excursions in Australia, which he describes as “very intense” were valuable to Tremlett’s learning. “It was pretty much mostly hard work, with training and weight training every day. But I also learnt about other things apart from cricket – lifestyle changes and patterns.”I was able to learn more about myself and this, I hope, can hold me in good stead for the season.”The National Academy have broken up now, with no matches scheduled for the coming year but the 2002-2003 `students’ will be announced earlier and Tremlett wanted to be a part of it again.”I was one of the youngest players out there. Rod Marsh is coming over this summer and will be keeping a close eye on the Academy lads. But I am keen to return, to work further on my body and get even more stronger and fitter.”

His country reached the quarter-finals of the Euros before they were knocked out by Denmark.

Schick scored in that game which took his tally in the tournament to five which means he’s currently the joint top scorer in the competition alongside a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.

Therefore, it’s hardly a surprise that new Leverkusen boss Gerardo Seoane described the 25-year-old as a player with “incredible finishing qualities” just a matter of days ago.

He only found the net 13 times last term but as he approaches his prime years, Schick looks like a force to be reckoned with.

The forward scored a mind-boggling goal from the halfway line against Scotland during matchday one of the European Championships and at 6 foot 2, is a brutal presence for any defender.

Like Calvert-Lewin, he is capable of reigning supreme in the air. Last term, he won 2.3 aerial battles per game in the Bundesliga and then a whopping 3.8 duels per match in the Europa League.

Capable of brutally dominating a backline, he’d be an exceptional signing, one that could finally give Everton’s current star striker some competition for his shirt.
