Speculation will refuse to go away around the future of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal, and recent transfer reports see the midfielder linked with a move abroad.

No offers have yet been made but there is one clear impediment to any potential exit for the 31-year-old, namely that he has no intention of leaving the club until his contract runs out next summer.

Fim do Século 19. O Rio de Janeiro, capital do Brasil, contava meio milhão de habitantes e crescia tentando administrar problemas de urbanização e saúde pública. A população se concentrava no centro da cidade do Rio de Janeiro e adjacências. No Lamas, um bar badalado do Flamengo, estudantes discutiam o cotidiano.

As corridas de cavalos ainda mobilizam o povo. Mas o remo começava a arrebatar as multidões. Surgiam, aqui e ali, clubes para a sua prática. Rapazes da Praia de Botafogo fundaram um grupo de regatas, atraindo as atenções das moças do bairro e da vizinhança, despertando ciúme indisfarçável no pessoal do Flamengo. Logo, o guarda-livros Nestor de Barros convocou a turma local para uma reunião no Lamas, onde decidiram criar um clube para representá-los.

O primeiro passo foi a compra da baleeira batizada de Pherusa. Em 6 de outubro de 1895, a embarcação foi lançada ao mar com sete jovens – Barros, Felisberto Laport, Joaquim Leovegildo dos Santos Bahia, José Agostinho Pereira, José Félix da Cunha Menezes, Mário Spínola e Maurício Rodrigues Pereira.

Clube nasceu na Praia do Flamengo, número 22, no casarão de Nestor de Barros

No fim da tarde, um vento traiçoeiro fez a Pherusa virar. Os tripulantes foram salvos pela lancha Leal, que regressava de um passeio, e a baleeira rebocada para a Praça 15, de onde foi roubada. O episódio seria o bastante para afastar dos rapazes a ideia de formar o seu próprio grêmio. Mas a turma não desistiu. Adquiriu uma nova embarcação, a Scyra, e convocou para 17 de novembro um encontro para o casarão número 22 da Praia do Flamengo, onde Barros morava, para concretizar o sonho.

A ata de fundação do Grupo de Regatas do Flamengo foi assinada por 18 nomes. Foi eleito como primeiro presidente o guarda-marinha Domingos Marques de Azevedo. A turma escolheu como cores oficiais o azul “da Baía de Guanabara” e o ouro “das riquezas naturais do Brasil”.

E resolveu que a data de fundação seria oficialmente a de 15 de novembro – feriado nacional que celebra a Proclamação da República. Daí em diante, o Flamengo começou a caminhar com as suas botas de sete léguas.

Seria necessária uma edição especial do diário LANCE! para detalhar todos os títulos que o Rubro-Negro ganhou em 120 anos de história. E os craques que abrigou – Leônidas da Silva, Zizinho e Zico puxando a fila. Mas basta ressaltar a popularidade que o clube desfruta no Brasil e até mesmo no exterior.

Isto já é suficiente para exprimir sua grandeza.

وتابع: “نحن كنادي الوحدة ليس لنا أي علاقة بزج اسمنا في التواصل مع مدرب الأهلي، لدينا مدير فني نثق في عمله وهو يقوم بعمل مقبول لدى إدارة النادي، ولا نية لتغييره”.

وواصل: “موسيماني مرتبط بعقد مع الأهلي، وأرجو من الوكلاء ألا يزجوا باسم نادي الوحدة من أجل أن يرفعوا سعر مدربهم، ارتبط اسمنا أيضًا بالتفاوض مع كارتيرون مرة وحسين الشحات مرة، ولم يحدث ذلك مطلقًا”.

واستكمل: “نحن على علاقة جيدة بالأهلي والزمالك، ولو طلبنا شيئًا منهم لن يتأخروا عنا، ولو طلبوا منا شيئًا سنعطيهم عيوننا، ويتردد في وسط الموسم أن مدربًا ما قريب منا أو لاعب سينضم لنا، نحن لسنا (محل بقالة)”.

وأكمل: “لا تسيروا وراء الشائعات، نحن لم نتواصل مع مدرب الأهلي أو الزمالك أو أي لاعب، نعرف محمود الخطيب وحسين لبيب، هو لاعب كرة يد نعرفه جيدًا، وعلاقتنا بهما جيدة، مصر بالنسبة لنا قدوة، ليس في الإمارات فقط بل لكل العرب وإفريقيا، نتعلم منكم الرياضة، ورجاء أتمنى من الوكلاء ألا يرددوا الشائعات، وصلتني اتصالات كثيرة من الوكلاء والإعلاميين على مدار اليومين الماضيين”.

وعن المفاوضات مع علي معلول وأشرف بن شرقي؟ قال: “بن شرقي عُرض علينا بالفعل، وسألنا الوكيل وقلنا له هل عندك توكيل من نادي الزمالك؟، فقال لا، قلت له لو عندك توكيل اعرضه علي، وليس لدينا مشكلة في ضم بن شرقي، لو متاح سندخل في مفاوضات مع الزمالك لضمه”.

وأوضح: “منذ يومين وقعنا مع اللاعب البرتغالي فابيو لدعم المركز الذي أحتاجه، وأتشرف أن أضم لاعبًا من الأهلي أو الزمالك لأنه بالنسبة لنا لاعب نتعاقد معه من القطبين سيكون مضمونًا”.

وأردف:” بن شرقي لو قرر الرحيل عن الزمالك سنفتح الباب، لكن نحن لن نتفاوض مع لاعب لديه عقد مع ناديه”.

واختتم: “علي معلول لم يُعرض عليّ، لكن عُرض عليَ فرجاني ساسي في الموسم الماضي، وأيضًا المركز الذي يلعب فيه معلول لا نحتاجه، وليس لدينا نية في التعاقد معه، ولو أردنا أي لاعب سنتواصل مع ناديه”.

Key information about Gateshead International Stadium

Gateshead International Stadium was built in 1955 and now houses National League North’s Gateshead FC. The ground is located in Gateshead in Tyne and Wear and is the third-largest sporting venue there.

Its current maximum capacity stands at 11,800 along with a pitch that measures 100m by 64m. The surface of the field is covered with grass and it has a running track surrounding it.

The record attendance for a competitive game at Gateshead International Stadium sits at 8,144 and was set on 4 May 2014 when Gateshead clashed against Grimsby Town in the second leg of the Conference Premier play-off semi-final.

A history of Gateshead International Stadium

The Gateshead International Stadium – or The Gateshead Youth Stadium as it was called back then – was built in 1955 on a site that formerly housed two large chemical works that were demolished in 1932. The ground was opened by Jim Peters and the construction reportedly cost around £30,000.

Still, initially, there wasn’t much to speak of there as the stadium only had a cinder running track and an asphalt cycling track along with floodlights and a stand which were added relatively quickly afterwards. Of course, back then, the main events hosted there were indeed for athletics purposes and races and it wasn’t until 1973 that Gateshead AFC first moved in from their former ground, Redheugh Park.

Unfortunately, the club went bust the very next year and Gateshead International Stadium would soon get a new tenant. Once South Shields football club relocated to Gateshead, they were renamed Gateshead United. That club remained at the stadium from 1974 until 1977 when they too eventually folded, making way for the newly formed Gateshead FC who have been calling the ground their home ever since.

The town actually invested quite a lot into the stadium over the years. Initially, however, it was done in order to boost the image of the city that was quickly fading back in the 1970s. And it was actually Brendan Foster who was the driving force behind the redevelopment after he was appointed the Council’s sport and recreation manager. In 1981, the main stand along with three accompanying stands were erected and the venue was renamed the Gateshead International Stadium.

Over the next years, the infrastructure was improved and the ground received boosts almost on a yearly basis, including the building of an indoor sports hall, outdoor football pitches and a gymnasium. Of course, athletics remained a pivotal feature of the stadium and would play host to many events in the future and to this day.

In Gateshead International Stadium’s more modern history, there were two major projects of redevelopment done. The first one was completed in 2006 when two artificial outdoor football pitches, indoor athletic training facilities, sports science provisions and conferencing rooms were all added. The second project included a general refurbishment and improvement of the existing facilities and was completed in two stages by 2011.

The third and final project was initially mooted in 2008 and was supposed to include further redevelopment and the erection of additional facilities but after delays and rejection by the Council, it seems that Gateshead International Stadium will have to wait for a bit longer to get another improvement.
