أكد الفرنسي باتريس كارتيرون المدير الفني لنادي التعاون السعودي، أنه الفترة التي قضاها مع الزمالك كانت متميزة.

ورحل كارتيرون عن الزمالك بشكل مفاجئ، بعدما قرر فسخ التعاقد مع القلعة البيضاء، وسداد قيمة الشرط الجزائي، لينتقل إلى تدريب التعاون.

وقال كارتيرون خلال تصريحات عبر “بي إن سبورت”: “شعرت أن الوقت حان للمغاردة، بغض النظر عن الظروف”.

وأضاف: “كان وقت جيد ورائع مع الزمالك”.

وأكمل: “هذه فترة حساسة بسبب كورونا، من حيث انتقال اللاعبين والمدربين”.

وأتم: “أطمح لبناء شيء قوي مع فريق التعاون السعودي خلال الفترة المقبلة”.

وتولى المدرب الفرنسي قيادة التعاون، وخسر أولى مبارياته أمام بيرسبوليس الإيراني في دوري أبطال آسيا.

ويستعد التعاون لمواجهة الشارقة الإماراتي، غداً الإثنين، لحساب الجولة الـ5 من دوري أبطال آسيا 2020.

Tottenham Hotspur’s title ambitions were dealt a major setback on Saturday when they lost 2-1 to Burnley at Turf Moor. أكدت تقارير صحفية إسبانية، أن الاتحاد الإيطالي لكرة القدم، قرر التدخل في قضية مهاجم برشلونة لويس سواريز، الذي اتُهم بالغش للحصول على الجنسية الإيطالية.

The Steel City derby ended goalless on Monday night at Hillsborough. Steve Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday produced a disciplined, determined performance to frustrate and shut out the promotion-chasing Sheffield United.

The Blades attacked persistently, and played some attractive football, but were ultimately unable to produce any end product against their bitter local rivals. Owls fans will be glad to have dented United’s title hopes and can look back on a job well done.

For Chris Wilder, though, it was a more frustrating affair. However, he will have been impressed by a few performances in his team. Despite only coming on in the 62nd minute to replace Kieran Dowell, Martin Cranie had an impressive impact on the game.

The 32-year-old defender showed his attacking quality against the Owls, bringing invention and drive to the Championship high-flyers.

Since his arrival at Bramall Lane in September, Cranie has consistently impressed when called upon and he is starting to push Chris Basham for his spot in the starting XI.

Certainly, if the former England under-21 international keeps this form up he could earn a new contract with the club, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season.

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has provided his verdict on the huge second city derby between Birmingham City and Aston Villa at St Andrew’s on Sunday, and despite pointing out how useful the three points would be for both teams, he doesn’t believe either will get them.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the EFL expert was discussing the clash as part of his latest set of predictions, as the eighth-placed Blues host the 11th-placed Villans in the Midlands.

Garry Monk’s men go into the weekend’s fixtures just four points shy of the play-off positions, while the visitors are only two points further back and will know that they can leapfrog their arch-rivals with a victory.

As per Sky Sports, Prutton said: “This is a Second City derby with plenty at stake! Both sides still have a shout at the play-offs and three points would go a long way to achieving that for either.

“Jack Grealish was brilliant when these teams met at Villa Park earlier in the season and you can see how important he is to the side with his performance against Derby last week. This is a close call, though, and I can’t split the pair. Score draw.”

Is he right?

He could well be.

More often than not it seems as though there isn’t a lot between the two teams in a derby game, and it could easily prove to be the case again at St Andrew’s.

The former Leeds United and Southampton man may well be right in expecting a high-scoring game in the derby however, with six in the previous meeting between the two at Villa Park in November, when the claret and blue outfit ran out 4-2 winners.

With Dean Smith’s side notching four last weekend against Derby and with Lukas Jutkiewicz and Che Adams forming a formidable partnership up top for the hosts, goals are certainly on the menu.

West Ham United fans have expressed both pride and concern after the England Twitter account shared a video of Declan Rice joining up with the squad.

Manager Gareth Southgate called up the defensive midfielder last week after he announced his intention to represent the Three Lions instead of the Republic of Ireland.

Rice could subsequently make his international debut in the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro.

A number of Irons fans have urged Rice to do them proud and to enjoy the experience, as he becomes the first player to be called up while playing for the club since Joe Hart in 2017.

However, a selection of supporters, while wishing Rice well, has expressed their concern that he may well pick up an injury.

The 20-year-old has been a key member of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad this season, playing 28 times in the Premier League as the club attempts to earn qualification to the Europa League.
