Revealed: 57% of Manchester United fans believe Marcus Rashford to be worth more than £80m

[ad_pod ]

The Sun recently reported that Real Madrid are plotting a huge £90 million double swoop for Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

The reports claims that the Spanish giants are planning to offer £50 million for 21-year-old attacker Rashford.

If you haven’t seen Patrice Evra’s bizarre new Instagram post then you need to check out the video below…

The United man has been a regular fixture in Jose Mourinho’s side this season, but his return of just two Premier League goals and one assist suggests that the Portuguese boss is struggling to get the best out of the 31-cap England international.

Even in his current poor form though, the Red Devils ought to immediately dismiss a bid of just £50 million for their hugely promising academy product. Despite his tender years, Rashford has already racked up 137 appearances for United.

As one of the most exciting young talents in European football, it ought to cost Los Blancos far more than £50 million to prise Rashford away from Old Trafford.

Most United fans agree that a far more substantial offer would be required. In our poll, 57% of those who took part stated that they believe the forward to be worth more that £80 million, getting towards the fee they paid to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus. See the full results below.

HYS: Do Everton need to upgrade on Coleman?

[ad_pod ]

Everton almost completely revamped their defence this summer, but it is time for Seamus Coleman to go as well?

Everton signed a new left back and three new centre backs this summer, finally phasing out ageing stars Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams.

While Coleman is younger than that trio, the Irish international has struggled at times this season, and fans have expressed concerns that his injuries are still bothering him.

The 30 year-old, who has racked up over 250 appearances for the Toffees, missed the beginning of the campaign with a foot injury, not long after recovering from that horrific leg break.

He has registered 25 goals and 25 assists for the club in all competitions, and fans love him not just for his performances on the pitch but his behaviour off it.

The skipper has just looked a step off the pace this season though, and had an absolute nightmare dealing with Anthony Martial at Old Trafford a few weeks ago.

An identical poll for Baines this summer received 78 per cent of votes in favour of axing the Englishman, so is it time to upgrade Coleman before it’s too late?

Tottenham fans once again hail Moussa Sissoko

[ad_pod ]

Good grief. The Tottenham Hotspur social media account is absolutely loving Moussa Sissoko at the moment, and the same can be said for the club’s fans.

There is no question that Sissoko has turned things around in London.

He has gone from a bit of a joke figure at Spurs to one of their most important players, and he will be in the XI that faces Arsenal this weekend.

Tottenham’s official Twitter account went a little bit mad with images of Sissoko on Friday, with three arriving in the space of a couple of hours.

The Spurs supporters were not complaining, however, with many jumping at the chance to lavish praise on the France international once again.

The 29-year-old really has turned it around following a poor start to his career at the club, and the winner against Arsenal this weekend would top it all off.

A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:

Arsenal fans take opportunity to mock Spurs after Harry Redknapp wins reality show

[ad_pod ]

Ex-Spurs manager Harry Redknapp was crowned winner of ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ on Sunday night as over 11 million tuned in to watch his coronation as ‘King of the Jungle’ but, while many surely applauded the 71-year-old for surviving three weeks on the reality show, Arsenal fans took it as an opportunity to have a dig at their London rivals.

Redknapp was at the White Hart Lane helm for four years between 2008 and 2012, in which he was credited with helping to turn Luka Modric into the star he is today, after moving the Croatian further upfield – the Ballon d’Or winner stated in his acceptance speech that his former boss had a huge impact on his becoming of a world-class midfielder.

However, there a few claims to success besides this for the cockney as the closest he got to a trophy with the Lilywhites was when he guided them to a Football League Cup runners-up place in 2008/09.

Gunners fans, still revelling in their side’s north London derby victory, took to Twitter to crack a few jokes –  here’s the best of the reaction…

Jermaine Jenas spoke exclusively to Playmaker FC about why Spurs are better than Arsenal right now. Check out the video above…

Everton must start Lookman after another nightmare Bernard display

[ad_pod ]

Everton were comfortably beaten by Manchester City on Saturday, and the performance of Bernard must force Marco Silva to switch things up for Sunday’s clash against Tottenham.

Silva’s new-look Everton side have played some brilliant football this season, but the lack of results since the international break is definitely a cause for concern.

The Toffees have won just once in their last six games, and have only scored five goals across those six matches.

The most frustrating thing about the lack of goals is the fact that they have actually dominated parts of all six of those games, but without a proper number nine they simply don’t have the clinical edge to make that dominance count.

In short, the Toffees are currently all style and no substance, and no one encapsulates this lack of killer edge quite as much as Bernard, who has struggled to make an impact since joining for free in the summer.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below...

The crafty Brazilian international clearly has plenty of ability, but his sheer lack of influence in the final third, plus the fact that he offers very little defensive help to Lucas Digne, means he is basically a waste of a shirt out there.

The 26 year-old, who has now failed to create a single chance in his last four starts, attempted just eight passes during the 3-1 defeat at the Etihad, completing only six of them.

He completed just one dribble, failed to register a single shot, and was also wasteful in possession, getting dispossessed three times and taking two unsuccessful touches.

If Bernard is going to have little to no impact in the final third, then he needs to be industrious, tiring out defenders and helping Digne track opposition runners down that flank, but he didn’t make a single tackle on Saturday.

Silva was right to take a gamble on the free agent this summer, but so far the gamble hasn’t paid off, and the boss must now swallow his pride and replace the Brazilian with the ever-improving Ademola Lookman.

So, Everton fans, which player would you rather start against Tottenham on Sunday? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…

Smith should look to offload Nyland and Richards

Dean Smith is already making moves in the January transfer window.

Aston Villa could be busy during this upcoming transfer window judging by what looks to be done so far.

The Telegraph reported that Villa are close to signing Croatian goalkeeper Lovre Kalanic in a £7m deal to help steady the backline.

The incoming could have a knock-on effect and cause an outgoing or two, as Smith could be set to shuffle the squad in his first transfer window as Villa manager to strengthen their hopes of reaching the play-offs and being promoted.

Therefore, Smith has no choice but to send this Villa DUO packing in January…

 Orjan Nyland

Orjan Nyland was brought in during the summer to be Steve Bruce’s number one, but a number of errors and inconsistent performances meant his place was questioned.

Smith has since stuck with him, however, Kalanic’s arrival could spell the end of Nyland’s time as number one.

With Mark Bunn as number two and Andre Moreira as number three, it could mean that Nyland is sold six months after his arrival in England, raising funds for the transfer budget in the process.

Micah Richards

Believe it or not, October 2016 was the last time Micah Richards played for Aston Villa. He was on the bench last season but did not make an appearance.

Richards’ time at Villa has been hampered by injuries meaning he was never really able to get going for The Villians.

However, with his contract expiring in six months and the fact he is believed to be on £35,000 a week, a January move would at least get a small sum for the 29-year-old and alleviate six months of his wages which could be put to use elsewhere.

Everton’s lack of steel saw them come unstuck again

[ad_pod ]

Everton were humiliated on Sunday as Tottenham Hotspur thrashed them by a 6-2 scoreline at Goodison Park.

Having taken the lead through Theo Walcott, a calamitous defensive mix up saw Spurs level the tie almost immediately, and from then on Tottenham pulled their opponents apart.

The manner of this defeat will be a huge concern for Marco Silva, whose side have now failed to win in five consecutive Premier League matches.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below...

On the chalkboard

The Toffees can count a number of top class players amongst their ranks – especially in their attacking contingent. However, if they are serious about competing for European football, then Silva must address the key frailties in his squad.

For all of their technical ability, the Merseyside outfit lack steel. Yesterday’s wingers, Walcott and Richarlison, offer pace and goal threat, defensively though they do not compete well enough or track back with enough diligence and awareness.

The central paring of Andre Gomes and Tom Davies, likewise, lost the physical battle on Sunday. With Idrissa Gueye missing, Everton lacked tenacity and fight in the middle of the park.

Finding the fighting spirit

The Toffees need more battlers, like Gueye. However, this is not a problem Silva can look to solve via the transfer market alone.

Change must first arise from a new attitude in the team towards defending from the front. Against Spurs, Everton’s pressing – when it occurred at all – was limp and disjointed, and served only to create more space for the visitors to exploit. In this discipline, Everton should look to repeat the progress of their neighbours, and bitter rivals, Liverpool.

Silva has to instil a new mentality. If he can’t then Everton shall continue to be picked apart by the ‘big six’, and the club will stand no chance of breaking into the ranks of that elite group themselves.

Liverpool should hijack any potential Tottenham move for Genk sensation Sander Berge

With Victor Wanyama’s future at Tottenham in doubt following an enquiry from Championship side West Brom, Spurs may have to be on the lookout for a new midfield destroyer to replace the imperious Kenyan and the powerful Mousa Dembele, who have both struggled for fitness this season.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the Daily Mail report that the Baggies are keen on the former Celtic man, but he has no interest in dropping down into the Championship. The north Londoners are however open to offers for the man they signed from Southampton, as he has shown no encouraging signs in his battle against niggling knee injuries.

Wanyama has started just one Premier League game for Mauricio Pochettino’s side so far this season, so even if they don’t manage to offload the midfielder, Spurs will most likely be on the lookout for a replacement.

One man who looks to be an exciting candidate for the aforementioned ‘midfield destroyer’ role is 20-year-old Genk star Sander Berge, who has been delivering some consistently brilliant performances for the Belgian side for a while now.

The Norwegian has 12 caps for his country, and looks to be another fine product out of the Belgian Pro League that has blessed England with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Christian Benteke and Vincent Kompany.

Why would Liverpool hijack any deal?

The Premier League leaders used to lack a physically dominating figure in the middle of the park before they signed Fabinho back in the summer.

Who has the loudest fans in Europe? PSG certainly state their claim in the video below…

His arrival has since seen Jurgen Klopp’s midfield become one of the most formidable in the league, as a result of the Brazilian’s excellence paired with the likes of Naby Keita, Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Xherdan Shaqiri.

The former Monaco man is, however, the only midfielder of his type at Anfield, and a move for a player of similar ability and ilk wouldn’t go amiss – especially one as young and precocious as Berge.

Klopp would’ve had backup to Fabinho in terms of a physical presence in the middle if Emre Can had stayed at the club, but the German decided to leave for Juventus. In the young Norwegian, however, they could get a player who goes on to be twice as good as Can ever was.

Brendan Rodgers surely won’t get a better chance to lure Fraser Forster back to Celtic

According to a recent report from The Daily Echo, the future of Fraser Forster is far from certain heading into the remainder of the January transfer window. The Englishman currently plays his football at Premier League outfit Southampton and has done so since leaving Celtic back in 2014, although struggles for regular game time in the last year or so has called his future at the club into question.

And reports suggest that new Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl does not have the England international in his plans to take the South Coast outfit forward, which is news that should be of keen interest to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, with the door very much ajar for the Northern Irishman to lure the 30-year-old back to Parkhead.

The Breakdown

Ultimately, while Craig Gordon has been a terrific servant to the Scottish Premiership champions following his move from Sunderland back in 2012, the goalkeeper turned 36 at the rear end of last year to call into question just how much longer he has at the top of the Scottish game.

And with a couple of big errors in the last 12 months or so, one of which almost costing Celtic their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League this season, Rodgers may well be eyeing up a possible replacement for the former Scotland international, albeit that doesn’t appear to be his deputy Scott Bain given he has played just twice in the league this term.

And given how well Forster performed during his four-year spell at Celtic Park, alongside the likelihood that he’ll be looking for a new club this month, Rodgers may not get a better opportunity to lure the shot-stopper back north of the border.

The 30-year-old may well have started his professional career in the North East with Newcastle United, but it was during his time at Celtic, which comprised of two loan spells and two years there permanently, in which the England international really made a name for himself.

Forster kept a staggering 21 clean sheets and shipped only 22 goals in his first season at Parkhead in 2010/11 as Neil Lennon’s men finished second to Rangers in the league, before conceding two goals fewer the season after as the Bhoys went one better and were crowned Scottish champions.

And it was in the summer of 2012 in which Celtic made his move permanent, and the 30-year-old continued to go from strength to strength with 15 clean sheets in 34 league appearances in the 2012/13 campaign, before appearing in all but one of their Scottish Premiership matches in 2013/14 as they clinched a third straight title under Lennon.

Overall, Forster finished his time at Parkhead with a sensational 101 clean sheets in just 197 appearances for the Bhoys to underline his adeptness between the sticks, and it’s arguable that he has since become a better goalkeeper given he has featured six times for England over the years, and indeed played a part in helping Southampton re-establish themselves in the Premier League.

Yes, things haven’t been great recently for Forster, with his indifferent form in 2017 costing him his place in the Saints first team, but there is no doubting that a fresh start somewhere he has produced some of his best football could get the best out of him once again – at the age of 30, he still has plenty of time to rediscover his best form.

And with Celtic ideally in need of a long-term replacement for Gordon, alongside Forster’s likely Southampton departure in the near future, Rodgers may not get a better opportunity to lure the £9 million-rated star (as per Transfermarkt) back to Parkhead.

Moussa Marega and Andreas Christensen would secure European football for Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers have set high standards in the current campaign as they continue to work towards securing a European spot at Molineux.

The Midlands club invested in a number of quality players back in the summer transfer window, and it’s safe to say that the vast majority of them have had a positive impact in one way or another.

But, with a number of other teams also in the race for a European spot this season, the race could come down to who manages to complete the best business this month.

Nuno Espirito Santo could do with strengthening at the heart of the defence and at the pinnacle of the attack at some point this month, as Leo Bonatini has failed to provide support for Raul Jimenez and Kortney Hause recently joined Aston Villa on loan, so they’re light on numbers at the back.

Interestingly, one player who Wolves should think long and hard about securing is Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen. The Danish international has struggled to work his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans this season, which has opened the door for a potential loan exit in the January transfer window.

Christensen has plenty of potential and has already shown that he can deliver quality performances on a consistent basis, both in Europe and in the Premier League for the Blues. He could even give Ryan Bennett a run for his money, as a ball-playing defender who oozes class on the field.

Another player who Wolves should be looking at is FC Porto’s Moussa Marega. The Mali international has been prolific once again in the current campaign, having produced 15 goals and six assists at this moment in time. His main attributes are his strength, goalscoring ability and pace, which is helped by his 6ft frame.

Marega and Christensen could easily send Wolves into the Europa League. The forward has shown that he can produce an impressive amount of goals and has excelled against some of the world’s best defenders in the Champions League, so he would provide the perfect support for Jimenez.

Meanwhile, Christensen has plenty of experience already in Europe and in the Premier League, which would boost a Wolves defence that already has the fifth-best defensive record in the top-flight.
