HYS: Who was Man United’s MOTM vs West Ham?

As is often the case when one Premier League side beats another in a 4-0 demolition, there were positive performances all over the pitch from Manchester United against West Ham on Sunday.

It was the perfect debut for new star striker Romelu Lukaku, who bagged a brace with goals either side of the interval and provided physical menace in attack all afternoon.

But fellow summer signing Nemanja Matic gave a fantastic account of himself too, completing a whopping seven dribbles whilst demonstrating the imperious protection he offers United’s back four.

Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who notched up three assists combined, played their parts as well in a convincing victory over the Hammers that laid down a real statement of intent on the opening weekend of the season.

Jose Mourinho will no doubt be pleased with not only individuals but also how well his side operated as a team, controlling the match from the opening to the final whistle.

But, United fans, who deserves the Man of the Match award from yesterday’s game? Let us know by voting below…

Chelsea fans want the club to sign Isco after he stars in Spain win

Real Madrid playmaker Isco was the hero for Spain as they beat Italy 3-0 in their crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier on Saturday, and his performance didn’t go unnoticed by Chelsea fans.

The 25-year-old was given a more attacking role as Julen Lopetegui opted to start the match without a recognised striker, and he certainly didn’t let his manager down.

The Spaniard fired a brilliant free-kick past Gianluigi Buffon in the 13th minute before adding a second from outside the penalty area five minutes before the interval to send his nation on the way to a comfortable win.

Isco has struggled to break into the Real first team under Zinedine Zidane, but there are already signs that could change this season – especially after his latest two-goal salvo for his country.

Nevertheless, Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on the showing via social media, and many would love to see the 25-year-old in a Blues shirt, preferably playing alongside Eden Hazard.

Revealed: 88% of Tottenham fans are happy with Spurs’ summer transfer business

Prior criticisms of Tottenham Hotspur’s inactivity in the transfer market this summer seem like a lifetime ago now. Indeed, Spurs ended up doing what they always do – turn up to the party late and get some important deals over the line.

While there’s still grounds for debate over whether getting signings in as early as possible gives them the best chance of settling into life at a new club, Spurs’ late swoops for Davinson Sanchez, Fernando Llorente, Sergue Aurier, Juan Foyth and Paulo Gazzaniga have completely transformed opinions amongst the fans – who were pulling their collective hair out a few weeks ago over the lack of signings.

Following the summer deadline, we asked Spurs supporters last week whether they’re happy with their club’s business in the transfer market and the response was a resounding yes, with 88% of Tottenham fans voting positively in FootballFanCast’s exclusive poll.

And in typical Tottenham style, despite their five late signings, the north London outfit still raked in a net profit of £9.24million.

In Focus: Chelsea confident of securing mammoth £300k-a-week deal

Chelsea are confident they’ll be able to retain the services of Eden Hazard and that he’ll pen a new deal with the club in the coming weeks, TMW report.

What’s the story?

Having won two Premier League titles in the past three years, Eden Hazard has firmly established himself as one of the best players in English football and that’s naturally led to wide interest in the Belgian’s services. However, Chelsea are confident they’ll find a breakthrough.

Hazard has not been shy of his admiration for Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, with Los Blancos regularly linked to the services of the former Lille man, and there’s been a growing expectation that the serial Champions League winners will lodge a bid somewhere down the line.

Chelsea are determined not to sell though and TMW reports a significant breakthrough, indicating that the defending Premier League champions are confident Hazard will sign a new contract through to 2021 worth a staggering £300k-a-week.

How crucial is this deal?

Eden Hazard has often been mentioned in the same categories as Neymar, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Belgian ace regularly tipped as a future Ballon D’Or winner. Given the fact a Premier League player hasn’t won the award since Michael Owen in 2001, it takes a brave man to bet on him ending La Liga’s dominance.

Hazard, now 16, is approaching the prime years of his career and a deal until 2021 would secure the Belgian’s services to the West London giants until he’s 30. That’s significant as it means Chelsea have not only got the player on their books through his rise but also in a period when he should play the best football of his career.

Nevertheless, a new contract doesn’t necessarily rule out a sale completely but it does mean Chelsea will have a strong negotiating position should Real Madrid, or any other European giant, come calling. Paying him £300k-a-week also sees the Blues flex their financial muscles, showing they can go toe-to-toe with Europe’s richest.

Liverpool fans blast Emre Can following lacklustre performance

Plenty of Liverpool fans were concerned in the summer when transfer rumours surrounded Emre Can, but it seems that some supporters would not be too brokenhearted now based on his performance against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League.

The German international was named in Jurgen Klopp’s first XI, but he struggled to make a positive impact in the game.

On numerous occasions, the midfielder was guilty of losing the ball in dangerous positions.

Klopp decided to substitute his fellow countryman in the 73rd minute, and it was a night to forget for Can as Liverpool were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw in Russia.

The Reds had the majority of possession and had a handful of opportunities to get the job done, but they were unable to snatch maximum points.

Can took plenty of the criticism when the match came to a close.

Liverpool have now taken a point from two group matches following their opening 2-2 draw with Sevilla.

Manchester United fans slam Daley Blind after Benfica win

Manchester United maintained their 100% record in the Champions League this season and moved a step closer to qualifying for the last 16 with a narrow 1-0 victory against Benfica at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night, but Red Devils fans weren’t impressed with Daley Blind’s performance.

The Dutchman lined up at left-back for the sixth time this season against the Portuguese outfit, with Marcus Rashford’s second-half free-kick proving to be the difference between the two teams in a clash that won’t live long in the memory.

While he struggled to get forward and overlap Rashford on the left – which is now expected of the modern day full-back – Blind was also sloppy in possession on a number of occasions for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Man United supporters were quick to have their say on his showing via social media, and while some labelled him “a liability”, others said he “gets worse every game”.

Man United fans want more from £35m-rated star

On Monday afternoon, Manchester United’s official Twitter account revealed that a documentary starring Henrikh Mkhitaryan would air on Thursday, November 16.

The MUTV documentary will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the Armenian, and it will surely prove a popular watch with the United supporters.

It would be fair to say that not many of the club’s fans wanted to hear about it, however, during a difficult period for Mkhitaryan.

The 28-year-old made a flying start to the 2017-18 campaign as he put assist after assist on the board, but his form has gone extremely cold in recent weeks. Indeed, he again struggled in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

There is no question that the attacker has the talent to play at Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen whether he has the temperament to form a successful career at the Theatre of Dreams.

Mkhitaryan’s documentary will certainly be an interesting watch, but at the moment, United supporters would rather that the former Borussia Dortmund playmaker, who is valued at £35m by transfermarkt.co.uk, sorted out his form on the field.

Revealed: Majority of Man United fans would prefer Tuanzebe to start vs Spurs than Lindelof

Safe to say, things haven’t gone too well for Victor Lindelof since swapping Benfica for Manchester United during the summer. At the time, the Sweden international was heralded as one of the most exciting young defenders in Europe.

[ad_pod ]

But throughout his short Old Trafford career thus far, the 23-year-old has looked surprisingly out of his depth. He produced an anxious showing in the European Super Cup at the start of the season and was nothing short of calamitous against Huddersfield last weekend, culpable for the second goal with a mistimed header.

The Red Devils face arguably their biggest test of the season so far when Tottenham travel to Old Trafford in Saturday’s 12.30pm kickoff and the good news for Jose Mourinho is that both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly could be available after spells on the sidelines.

But we asked United fans earlier this week who should start alongside Chris Smalling at centre-back if the duo don’t recover in time, with Marcos Rojo also injured, and Lindelof found himself dwarfed in our poll by a considerably younger, considerably less experienced team-mate – Axel Tuanzebe.

While Lindelof has looked overawed in a United shirt, Tuanzebe put in an incredibly composed performance against Swansea during midweek’s Carabao Cup action and at this moment in time, it seems Red Devils supporters trust the academy product more.

Can you name the 10 top Premier League goalscorers for Norwich City?

Despite Cameron Jerome scoring 16 goals last season and finishing as 7th top goalscorer in the Championship, his recent drought of one league goal in 15 appearances has given Norwich fans cause for concern.

This, combined with injury worries of alternative forward, Nelson Oliveira, has meant the club has come under criticism from fans that it needs to pay out for a new striker. Oliveira is currently in Portugal being treated for injuries that keep coming back to haunt him although, despite this, he has already scored five goals for the club this season.

With Norwich recently losing their third consecutive game in a row, Manager Daniel Farke insists he’s ‘not panicking’ on the club’s goal-drought just yet.

Thinking back to times where the balls were flying into the goal left, right and centre for the club, who are the top 10 Premier League goalscorers for Norwich City?

You’ve got three minutes to name them all in the quiz below…

In Focus: Southampton midfielder wants Feyenoord return

Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie has told the Dutch media, as quoted by The Sun, that he wants to return to former club Feyenoord at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

What’s the story?

There was a lot of excitement among Southampton fans when Ronald Koeman sanctioned the £8m signing of Clasie from Feyenoord in the summer of 2015.

The midfielder had previously been linked with Manchester United, and at the age of 25, certainly had time on his side as he looked to make an impact in the Premier League.

Clasie, who is valued at £9m by transfermarkt.co.uk, turned out on 25 occasions for Southampton during the 2015-16 season, before making a further 24 appearances last season under the management of Claude Puel.

New Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino deemed the Netherlands international surplus to requirements, however, and sent him on loan to Club Brugge for the 2017-18 campaign.

Clasie has only made three appearances for the Belgian outfit this season, however, and has revealed that he wants to return to Feyenoord next summer.

Where did it go wrong for Clasie?

There is absolutely no question that the Southampton supporters were thrilled with the midfielder’s arrival.

He signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club, and was expected to bring all of the required attributes to a team that like to have possession of the ball.

It just has not happened for Clasie, but he is not the first, nor will he be the last player to struggle in the Premier League after impressing in Dutch football.

The midfielder only started 12 Premier League matches last season, and has revealed that he wanted to return to Feyenoord this summer, but the Dutch club turned the deal down.

Clasie is hopeful that a return to Netherlands will be secured next summer, and if that occurs, it would be a massive shame for a player that is clearly talented enough to make a big impression on the Premier League.
