Celtic return to action in the Scottish Premiership later this week as they prepare to host Aberdeen in a top-of-the-table clash at Parkhead on Saturday.
The Hoops did not have a match last weekend, as it is currently the October international break, but did win their last game before that, beating Ross County 2-1 in Dingwall.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have made a fantastic start to the 2024/25 league campaign, with seven wins and one goal conceded in their seven outings so far.
The only goal they have let in was a penalty from Ronan Vale against Ross County, as they kept six clean sheets in their first six Premiership games.
Celtic have also scored six goals in two matches in the Champions League, including a 5-1 win over Slovan, but were beaten 7-1 by Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
The Scottish giants are aiming to secure multiple trophies this season, after winning the SFA Cup and the Premiership last term, and they will need their star players to step up to the mark.
One player who has stepped up for the Hoops so far this term is German forward Nicolas Kuhn, who has emerged as a key figure for Rodgers at the top end of the pitch.
Nicolas Kuhn's career with Celtic
The Northern Irish head coach swooped to sign the former Bayern Munich and Ajax youth prospect from Rapid Vienna for a reported fee of £3m in the January transfer window at the start of this year.
During the first half of the 2023/24 campaign, the left-footed magician had produced two goals and five assists in 16 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The 24-year-old whiz had not proven himself to be an outstanding goalscorer or an extraordinary creator of goals in Austria, but Celtic decided to gamble on his potential.
Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn.
Kuhn then scored two goals and provided two assists in 14 appearances in the Premiership during the second half of the season, as he settled into life in Glasgow.
With a pre-season under his belt, the German sensation has enjoyed a phenomenal start to the 2024/25 campaign, with a return of six goals and eight assists in 11 matches in all competitions.

As you can see in the table above, the Celtic forward has been in terrific form in the Premiership – averaging a goal contribution per game – and has offered excitement to supporters with goals, assists, and dribbles.
These statistics show that the winger is well on his way to being a superstar for Rodgers at Parkhead, which shows that the club played a masterclass by investing in his potential last January.
Celtic could now repeat that blinder by swooping for another winger from the Austrian Bundesliga when the January transfer window opens for business at the start of 2025 – William Boving.
Celtic learn price for William Boving
It was recently reported by 67HailHail that the Hoops have been mentioned as having a possible interest in Sturm Graz attacker William Boving ahead of the next window.
The outlet added that his name has been ‘doing the rounds’ in Celtic circles and that the club appears to have been alerted by his strong form for the Austrian side this season.
However, 67HailHail claimed that teams from Germany and Italy, presumably in the top-flight but it was unspecified, are also interested in signing the 21-year-old ace – showing that he is in-demand ahead of the next window.
The report revealed that the player may not have much of an interest in moving to Scotland as the next step in his career, which also means that the Hoops would potentially need to persuade him to make a switch to Glasgow.
67HailHail also outlined how much it would cost to tempt Sturm Graz into cashing in on the Danish whiz. It was reported that it would take a fee of £7m+ to secure a deal for the talented youngster, and it remains to be seen whether or not Celtic would be willing to spend that much money in January.
Transfer Focus
Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.
The Scottish giants could, however, repeat the masterclass they played with Kuhn by swooping for another Austrian Bundesliga winger in a January transfer window in an attempt to bolster their squad.
Why Celtic should sign William Boving
At the age of 21, Boving would come in as a player with the potential to improve throughout his career with Celtic, rather than arriving as the finished article.
He could use the second half of the season, as Kuhn did, to settle into life in Scotland before aiming to hit the ground running in the 2025/26 campaign after a full pre-season in Glasgow.
The Danish gem has shown promise in his performances for Sturm Graz so far this season, with one assist in two Champions League outings and strong displays in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Boving, who scored 24 goals in 37 games for Copenhagen at U19 level, has racked up 11 goals and 11 assists in 81 matches for Sturm Graz to date.

As you can see in the table above, he has showcased his creative quality in the Bundesliga this term, with four ‘big chances’ created in seven starts.
Like Kuhn, Boving is yet to hit his stride as a goalscorer at senior level but his outstanding form for Copenhagen’s academy as a scorer suggests that the potential is there for him to develop into a regular goalscorer if Celtic can help him to flourish in Scotland.
Meanwhile, the Sturm Graz star has already emerged as a big creative threat for his side, as Kuhn had for Rapid Vienna, and could provide an immediate boost to the Hoops in that regard.

Move for Worcestershire player raises fears over talent drain from non-hosting counties

Hampshire have confirmed the signing of Ross Whiteley on a three-year, white-ball contract in a move that will raise questions about the independence of Hundred teams from their affiliated host counties.Whiteley, 33, announced earlier this month that he would leave Worcestershire after turning down a contract extension with the club. As revealed by ESPNcricinfo, a number of counties including Sussex were interested in signing him but he has opted to join Hampshire, saying in a club statement he was “thrilled to be joining an exciting group of players in the search for more trophies”.The deal will come under scrutiny since Whiteley was a key member of the Southern Brave side which won the inaugural edition of the men’s Hundred, hitting 44 not out off 19 balls in the final against Birmingham Phoenix. The Brave are based at the Ageas Bowl and there was significant overlap between their playing and coaching staff and Hampshire’s.While there is no suggestion of wrongdoing from Hampshire or Whiteley, his comments upon completing his move will raise fears that the counties whose home grounds also host Hundred teams are effectively able to sell their club’s facilities to players from smaller counties during the course of the tournament, which could lead to a short-term talent drain.Related

“I spent a little bit of time down here during the Hundred and fell in love with the place, really,” Whiteley told BBC Solent. “There were quite a few of the backroom staff involved and obviously Vincey [James Vince] was a big part of the Southern Brave. It felt like a really good fit.”Last month, Lancashire announced that they had signed Phil Salt (who played for Manchester Originals) from Sussex, while Derbyshire’s Matt Critchley (Welsh Fire) has been the subject of recent interest from Glamorgan.Whiteley will officially join Hampshire on November 1 and his move appears to have brought his first-class career to an end after 89 matches, 3577 runs and 41 wickets, following his decision to sign white-ball-only terms.Giles White, Hampshire’s director of cricket, said: ”We are delighted Ross has decided to sign with Hampshire after his lengthy spell at Worcestershire. When a player of Ross’s calibre becomes available there is always interest from a number of counties so it’s fantastic he’ll be joining up with us later this year.”

There are three pacers and two spinners in the 12 named on the eve of the match
Danyal Rasool23-Oct-2021Pakistan have named a 12-man squad for their first group game of the T20 World Cup against India in Dubai on Sunday. Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz sit out, meaning Pakistan will go into the game with three fast bowlers in Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali. The spinners are Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan. The batting order has been all but set, with Pakistan fielding the same top five in each of their warm-up games. The only question that remains unanswered is whether Haider Ali finds a slot in a middle that still lacks and out-and-out power-hitter. One of Mohammad Hafeez or Shoaib Malik are the likeliest candidates to be benched, should the 21-year old get his chance.Pakistan’s 12 for the match against India•ESPNcricinfo Ltd
“Preparations have been good and the camp and the matches gave a lot of confidence,” Babar Azam, the Pakistan captain said. “The effort that the boys have been putting in motivates me as captain. On the day we will try to play good cricket and give our best. We have decided our 12 and going forward on match day we will pick our playing XI.”The selection means young fast bowler Mohammad Wasim – lauded for his ability at the death in the Pakistan Super League in the UAE – will not get his chance in the first game. By omitting Nawaz from the final 12, Pakistan have also opted to eschew the option of a second left-arm spinner against an Indian batting line-up dominated by right-handers.As ever, talk before the game focused on Pakistan’s poor record in ICC events against India. They’ve lost eight of their last 10 fixtures across the Champions Trophy, World Cup and T20 World Cup; they’ve lost four, and tied once – which they then lost in a bowl-out – across T20 World Cups.”I don’t want to think about the past or future,” Babar said. “Records are made to be broken and you never know what happens on any given day. We will try to give our 100 percent and stick to our strengths and stay confident.”Pakistan had a mixed warm-up campaign, comfortably thrashing a lacklustre West Indies before poor death bowling cost them victory against South Africa. India played against England and Australia, winning both warm-ups. Pakistan will follow up the game against India on Sunday with fixtures against New Zealand, Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland.”It’s a World Cup so we can’t be relaxed at any stage. It’s not just about the first game. The entire event is tough. We are prepared for back-to-back games and we are ready.”The squad met with Pakistan Prime Minister and former captain, Imran Khan before they left Pakistan. “Before coming, we had a meeting and in that he (Imran) had shared his experience, about what was his mindset in the 1992 World Cup, what was his and the team’s body language.”Pakistan 12: Babar Azam (capt), Mohammad Rizwan (vice-capt), Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Asif Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Shadab Khan, Shoaib Malik, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi.

Manchester United’s esteemed academy is undoubtedly one of the best in footballing history. From the Busby Babes to the Class of ‘92, right the way through to the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford today, they have produced some simply extraordinary footballers.
Perhaps the most famous set of academy graduates to come out of United was the Class of ‘92. Consisting of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary and Phil Neville, Nicky Butt and David Beckham, the stars were responsible for large portions of United’s success. Their best achievement, above all, was the treble in 1999.
Whilst all six were superstars in their own right, arguably the best of the bunch was Scholes.
Scholes’ United career
There will never be a definitive answer to the age-old question of who is the best midfielder between Scholes, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. In many ways, it is perhaps a pointless debate given the former United midfielder was a key part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s dominance over English football.
Amongst others, the Englishman, who made 66 caps for his country, won the Premier League title 11 times, the Champions League twice and the FA Cup four times.
He won 26 titles during his time at the club, which, of course, included the famous treble in 1999, although he missed the iconic Champions League final at the Nou Camp through suspension.
In total, United’s former number 18 made 718 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 155 goals in that time. He retired twice for United, once in 2010/11 after the Champions League final loss to Barcelona, before reversing his decision a few months later and staying until Ferguson’s last season, 2012/13.
United legend Sir Bobby Charlton put into words how great Scholes was, once praising him for the fact he was “always so in control” on the ball, before describing the midfielder as “a beautiful player to watch”.
Indeed, if there is one thing Scholes is remembered for nowadays, it is his spellbinding passing ability. He could effortlessly land the ball at his desired destination every single time, making it look so easy. His technique was second to none, and he could execute any type of pass.
He was the epitome of United, and for years the Red Devils have searched high and low for his replacement. They perhaps once thought they had found him, although it was a move that did not work out.
The Scholes-like midfielder who United sold
The player in question here is Netherlands international midfielder Donny van de Beek. United signed him from Ajax back in 2020, for an initial fee of £34.6, with a further £4.4m in potential add-ons.
Manchester United'sDonnyvandeBeekapplauds fans after the match
The Dutchman, a player who possesses superb technical quality between the lines, was compared to Scholes by former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
The former United number one explained when they signed Van de Beek that he has “a great eye for a goal”, praising his “brilliant” technique before explaining he’d “compare him a little bit to Scholesy”.
Sadly, the move from Amsterdam to Manchester did not work out for the Ajax academy graduate. He played just 62 times for the club in an injury-riddled stint, going out on loan to Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt across his four years at Old Trafford.
Many thought that Erik ten Hag’s appointment would see the midfielder earn more minutes; he had previously played 110 times under his former coach at Ajax, scoring 32 times and grabbing 29 assists. However, he featured on just 12 occasions under his fellow Dutchman.
Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek.
United sold the midfielder in the summer to Spanish outfit Girona, where he has since gone on to play eight times so far. He cost around £420k up front, with add-ons potentially taking the deal up to £7.66m.
United will no doubt be disappointed that it did not work out for the Dutch midfielder at Old Trafford. They did not manage to find their new Scholes and lost a large chunk of money on the original deal.
Man Utd wasted £109m on Solskjaer signing who earned more than Garnacho
He burned Manchester United of £109m during his time at Old Trafford.
In what could leave Marco Silva without one of his star men after losing Joao Palhinha in the summer, Juventus have now reportedly set their sights on signing a Fulham defender once 2025 arrives.
Fulham transfer news
The Cottagers deserve significant credit for how they’ve started the Premier League campaign even after losing Palhinha in the summer transfer window, but they could now become the victims of their success yet again. Sitting respectably in mid-table as a result of their steady start, Fulham will be desperate to avoid an exodus of star men in the new year.
"My contract ends in 2025" – Fulham star hints at club to extend his deal
This is great news for Marco Silva.
ByHenry Jackson Oct 25, 2024
Meanwhile, on the incomings front, Silva will be hoping to add to his side in either January or next summer, with Fulham already linked to the likes of Joyskim Dawa in an attempt to bolster their backline. The 6 foot 4 central defender reportedly received contact from the west London club earlier last month as they prepare to make their move ahead of both Everton and Leeds United.
It’s a move that could quickly prove to be all important if the Cottagers are to lose yet another star man. According to Serie A reporter Giovanni Albanese, Juventus are plotting a move to sign Joachim Andersen as they look to build Thiago Motta’s defence.
It would certainly be quite the move for the defender, given that the £90,000-a-week man only just arrived at Fulham in the summer transfer window. However, in many ways, Juventus’ interest sums up just how successful Andersen’s start to life at Craven Cottage has been. To now lose the 28-year-old in a similar fashion to Palhinha would represent a frustrating blow.
Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.
When the transfer window arrives and Juventus assess their options, it will certainly be interesting to see whether Andersen receives an offer from the Serie A giants and if he will be lured away from Fulham.
"Outstanding" Andersen has become key man at Fulham
It should come as no surprise that Andersen has adjusted to life at Fulham so seamlessly given how he impressed during his time on loan at Craven Cottage, not to mention at Crystal Palace, where he earned the praise of former manager Roy Hodgson.
The ex-Palace boss told reporters via the York Press after a draw against Brentford last season: “I thought Joachim Andersen was the outstanding player today in our team and maybe the outstanding player on the field.
“I thought he was a colossus today, he won every header in both ends of the field and I thought he won every challenge he went into, he was a leader figure and he drove the team forward.
“He wasn’t afraid to come more than midway into the opponent’s half as we saw and he was playing balls and spraying it around from about 25 yards from goal and that was a great responsibility that he took there.”
A move to a European club of Juventus’ stature would arguably be long overdue for Andersen after such an impressive spell in the Premier League, but Silva is unlikely to share the same sentiment given just how important he has become, starting six out of nine games ahead of their upcoming west London derby with the Bees.

-Vou ser sincero: não penso em seleção. O meu sonho é ganhar a Libertadores.
