Everton have real "interest" in signing 25-year-old star

Everton have already added some options in the final third this summer but the business may not be finished there. Journalist Paul Brown has spoken to GIVEMESPORT about the potential of landing a new attacking player from Serie A.

Could this signing make all the difference to Everton?

Everton to date have signed three attacking players to make up for the plight they endured in front of goal last season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been dealt with a rough run of injuries, including issues with his hamstring and knee in 2022/23, leaving the Toffees low on options for players to contribute going forward.

As a result, the trio of Jack Harrison, Arnaut Danjuma and Youssef Chermiti have been brought in by Sean Dyche and co to steer Everton away from another relegation battle.

Harrison arrived on loan from Leeds United, Danjuma joined from Villarreal for the season after struggling to make an impact with Tottenham Hotspur last term and finally, 19-year-old Chermiti was bought from Sporting CP for just over £10 million.

The latest name being linked with Everton is Udinese forward Beto. In the last two league campaigns in Serie A he has hit double digits for goals, a feat he also achieved in his only full season with Portimonense.

At 6 foot 4 inches, Beto’s size could cause issues for a lot of Premier League defences and pose a similar threat to Calvert-Lewin, with the Englishman regularly sidelined with injuries.

Football Insider reported on the interest of Everton in the 25-year-old from Udinese and the fee to secure this deal would be in the region of £26 million, more than double what they have already spent on bringing Chermiti in.

What has Paul Brown had to say?

Journalist Paul Brown has given his opinion to GIVEMESPORT about the links between Everton and Udinese forward Beto.

"I haven't seen enough of Beto to know whether he's the right option for Everton, but I don't think talks are very advanced there.

"I know there's an interest but there's been an interest in several strikers around Europe, so how likely it is for this one to happen, I'm not sure yet. We will have to wait and see."

What else is going on at Everton?

As previously mentioned, the Toffees have been fairly busy this window already as they look to build a squad that can steer them away from any potential relegation battle.

Dyche may go back to Leeds for his transfer targets to follow up on the arrival of Harrison with a potential bid for the young Italian Wilfried Gnonto. He has been vocal about his desire to depart Elland Road following their relegation to the Championship and Jacque Talbot is reporting that a Goodison Park move is what he is pushing for.

Meanwhile, another goalkeeper could be brought to Merseyside in the form of Alex McCarthy. As per Jack Rosser, he may be allowed to leave Southampton on a free transfer due to his wages after they of course suffered relegation too.

Everton aren’t allow in their pursuit of the Saints shot-stopper though with Crystal Palace also monitoring the situation.

Gotch propels Victoria to hefty score despite Agar four-for

Wicketkeeper Seb Gotch fell two short of his maiden first-class century as Victoria piled on 450 on the third day against Western Australia at the MCG. In reply, Western Australia were 0 for 86 in their second innings at stumps, with Jonathan Wells on 46 and William Bosisto on 38, but their side still trailed by 121 runs after Victoria compiled their hefty total.Victoria had started the day on 4 for 247 and soon lost Daniel Christian, who was caught off the bowling of Ashton Agar for 34. Cameron White was lbw to D’Arcy Short for 82 before Agar and Short claimed the wickets of Chris Tremain and Jon Holland respectively to leave Victoria at 8 for 331.However, a fighting ninth-wicket stand worth 98 was built by Gotch and Scott Boland to frustrate Western Australia. Gotch was on 98 when he was caught off a leading edge from the bowling of Agar, who finished with 4 for 119 in his first Sheffield Shield game of the season. Agar was making his return after suffering a fractured finger during Australia’s ODI tour of India in September.

> Confira a tabela do Brasileirão

Com o resultado, o Flu estaciona nos 11 pontos e fica em nono lugar na tabela, ainda podendo cair dependendo dos outros resultados da rodada. No próximo jogo, encara o Corinthians, no domingo.

O segundo gol do Fla saiu dali.

Nottingham Forest: Cooper Could Sign Own Saka In "Sensational" £8m Whiz

Nottingham Forest are reportedly ready to delve back into the transfer market again this summer, as Steve Cooper eyes further reinforcements to bolster his side.

The Welshman welcomed Argentine defender Gonzalo Montiel to the City Ground on a loan-deal this week, in what marked the Reds’ fifth arrival of the window.

With three points on the board after a late victory against Sheffield United on game week two of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, the Tricky Trees could be finding their stride which could be strengthened by additional captures before the market closes.

Who could Nottingham Forest sign this summer?

After securing the signature of former Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga last month, the Reds could replicate the nature of the transfer with reports linking them to a fellow forward from one of the league’s top clubs.

As reported by the Evening Standard this week, Chelsea outsider Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to be the subject of a transfer battle, with three clubs in the top-flight ready to fight for his services.

Forest are joined by Fulham and Everton in the race to sign the 22-year-old, who is said to be desperate to leave Stamford Bridge this summer in the hope to kickstart his career.

The report claims that the Blues are demanding a fee in the region of £8m for the Englishman, with Cooper’s side now speculated to be the favourites to land his signature, as suggested by TEAMtalk.

What could Callum Hudson-Odoi offer to Nottingham Forest?

Rising through the ranks at Chelsea’s academy, not many would have predicted the direction of Hudson-Odoi’s career to have gone the way it has in recent years.

The “sensational” left-winger, as he was once lauded by U23 scout Antonio Mango, was a regular for the Blues in both the Premier League and European squads, being part of the side that delivered the Champions League to Stamford Bridge back in 2021.

Bayer Leverkusen's former loan forward Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Since the highs of Porto, the Englishman has seen his game time limited due to both injury and form, which saw him eventually endeavour on a loan spell with Bayer Leverkusen in January.

In the Bundesliga, the Londoner made 14 appearances for Leverkusen, contributing just one assist during his time away from west London, leaving his future looking to be far away from Stamford Bridge.

In Forest’s interest, Hudson-Odoi could have a lifeline, with his talent unquestionable and him still being only 22 years of age, his best years could be found in Cooper’s squad.

Back in the 2021/22 Premier League season, the Chelsea academy graduate found himself likened statistically to Bukayo Saka, whose career has exploded under the trust of Mikel Arteta, showcasing just how promising the Forest target’s future could still be.

In that campaign, the English whiz averaged 6.27 progressive carries and 2.34 key passes per 90 for Chelsea, exceeding the averages of Saka that term who registered an average of 4.23 progressive carries and 2.06 key passes per 90 for the Gunners, via FBref.

If Cooper can retrieve such form from Hudson-Odoi, the Welshman could identify his own answer to Saka, with the Englishman having the potential to perform at the level of the Arsenal sensation when at the top of his game.

With other clubs swarming around the 22-year-old, the Reds may have to act fast if they are to secure the signing this summer.

Not the kind of pitches we wanted – Shami

The India fast bowler said the team hasn’t been provided with the pitches they wanted in preparation for the South Africa tour, but that they made for a good test of their fitness

Sidharth Monga in Delhi04-Dec-2017

India’s bowlers have sent down a combined 130 overs in this innings•BCCI

For long periods in the Delhi Test, it will have seemed India are not getting what they wanted from it – preparation for the South Africa tour – but there also would have been satisfaction that they could put in long spells in testing conditions and come back with rewards towards the end of the day.”The kind of wickets we wanted to prepare on before going to South Africa, we haven’t been provided with those kind of wickets,” Mohammed Shami, India’s big hope for away tours, said. “So it didn’t go as per our plans. But it’s a good thing that on these kind of tracks, you need to work hard as a bowler. These kind of tracks test your fitness as you get to bowl long spells. Overall as a bowling unit, all bowlers have together bowled more than 100 overs (130 overs). So you can see how much effort we are putting.”For Shami personally, it was a bigger physical test because he had a bit of a cold coming into the Test. However, he did acknowledge – unlike his bowling coach B Arun on day two – that the Delhi pollution can have a serious, adverse effect on those not used to these conditions.”I was a bit under the weather even before the match started,” Shami said. “I had a cold. Yes, pollution is an aspect that we seriously need to think about. But not to the extent that it was being portrayed. Also, it could be that we are more used to it and our ability. I think we need to check what are the reasons of pollution and try to minimise it. Look, we are used to suffering from all these problems.”Then there were dropped catches, all three at second slip, by Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. This will be a big concern for India before the big tour, because slip catching to fast bowlers is crucial in those parts. Shami said it does frustrate the bowlers but it was something they had to put behind them.”Fielders are not machines that they will grab anything that comes their way,” Shami said. “Yes, you might get angry when a catch is dropped but we are a team, and we play together all the year around for the country. You have to ignore and move on.”Asked if the bowlers get a say in deciding the cordon and possibly pick fielders they are confident of, he said it is best if bowlers are kept away from these decisions. “It’s after a long time this unit has dropped so many catches in a match,” Shami said. “You need to take it in your stride and move on. We need to work hard and improve.”

Liverpool: Reds could sign dream £22m Szoboszlai partner

Liverpool have embarked on a major rebuild of their midfield this summer, and now an update from a reliable source has revealed that the Merseyside giants could still yet add even more depth in the centre of the pitch.

Will Liverpool sign another player before the transfer window closes?

According to Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are continuing to monitor Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch's situation ahead of the transfer window closing on Friday.

Romano revealed on social media:

"Ryan Gravenberch on his future: “I don‘t know what will happen in the next days”, told @cfbayern"

"Manchester United and Liverpool both asked to be informed on the situation until end of the window, in case Bayern will allow him to leave"

Will Liverpool sign another midfielder?

There is no doubt that Liverpool have undergone huge changes to the squad at Anfield this summer, with the club sanctioning exits for some of their most experienced players.

Read the latest Liverpool transfer news HERE…

Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all moved on, whilst Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo have been acquired to freshen up the centre of pitch.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp will be delighted with the results tallied up over the opening games of the Premier League season, there is still a definite opportunity to add quality depth to the midfield over the dying days of the transfer window.

As a result, the signing of Gravenberch – who has a reported £22m price tag – would be a great piece of business for the Reds, as the young talent could be a huge prospect for the future of the team and possesses the profile needed to improve performances.

ryan-gravenberch-bayern-munich-premier-league-liverpool-transfers

The Ajax academy graduate – once dubbed "outstanding" by former Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić – has gone from strength to strength over his short career so far and has become one of the hottest youth prospects in Europe, despite finding himself lacking in game-time since joining the Bundesliga giants.

As per FBref, Gravenberch has ranked in the top 20% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues for shots on goal, shot-creating actions, progressive passes, successful take-ons and tackles per 90 minutes played, with both former Liverpool target Jude Bellingham and Mac Allister named as his most comparable players over the last 12 months. That is fine company indeed.

The 21-year-old's diverse range of skills would make him the perfect partner for Szoboszlai in the centre of the pitch, as he can not only provide the Liverpool midfielder with opportunities to progress the ball, but can give the Hungarian more freedom to impact the attacking third by providing solid defensive cover.

Szoboszlai has quickly become an extremely popular addition at Anfield with the 22-year-old a stand-out performer over his three league appearances so far – tallying up an 88% pass completion rate, a team high 1.7 key passes per match and won 5.3 duels per game, according to SofaScore.

It's frightening to think, therefore, that those numbers would increase with another strong midfielder such as Gravenberch beside him.

With that being said, it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool will look to add more depth to their midfield and make a move for the Bayern starlet over the remaining days of the window, as he could be an incredibly valuable asset to Klopp over the season ahead and beyond.

Newcastle Submit Enquiry To Sign Emile Smith Rowe

Newcastle United have asked about the conditions of a loan deal for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe, and a fresh report has revealed that they’ve already received a reply.

How old is Emile Smith Rowe?

Smith Rowe is 23 years of age and an academy graduate at the Emirates Stadium having worked his way up through the various youth ranks to get promoted to the first team back in 2020, but last season, he fell significantly out of favour under Mikel Arteta.

In the Premier League, England’s youth international made zero starts and was forced to come off the bench as a substitute on 12 occasions, via WhoScored, so he knows that despite still having three years remaining on his contract, he’ll have to complete a move elsewhere should he want to get more regular minutes under his belt moving forward.

The Magpies, as it stands, have Elliot Anderson as their only natural option in attacking midfield, as per Transfermarkt, so Eddie Howe could do with entering the market to not only bolster his ranks but also provide healthy competition, and if the following update is to be believed, he’s already tried his luck with the talented prospect.

Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

Are Newcastle signing Emile Smith Rowe?

According to 90min, Newcastle and Aston Villa have “both made contact” with Arsenal to enquire about a loan for Smith Rowe, but they are currently “not entertaining” any kind of exit. Chelsea have also seen an approach rejected, with the Gunners not interested in selling their youth product, especially to a direct rival in the form of the outfit at Stamford Bridge.

However, the player himself is believed to be “open” to the idea of leaving before tomorrow’s deadline in order to increase his game time, though it sounds as if it will take a sizeable proposal to prise him away from N7.

How many goals does Emile Smith Rowe have?

During his 97 senior appearances for Arsenal, Smith Rowe has racked up 29 contributions (18 goals and 11 assists) and has been dubbed a “difference-maker” by Emirates legend Mesut Ozil, so there’s no doubt that he could have a hugely positive impact in the final third should he put pen to paper at Newcastle.

The Croydon-born dynamo, who pockets £40k-per-week, also recorded a 91.3% pass success rate in the top-flight last season which was higher than any of the regular features achieved in the northeast, so his calmness and composure on the ball would be an upgrade on the boss’ current options at St. James’ Park.

Sponsored by Nike, Smith Rowe is also a versatile operator having been deployed in six different positions since the start of his career, including four roles in the midfield, out wide on the left wing and even at centre-forward, so he could be a great option to have in the building should cover be needed if any unexpected injuries were to occur.
